Captain’s Report

In spite of Wilcot’s vicar Mark Windsor being among those selected to play, the unfavourable weather forecast for the weekend proved accurate and, after heavy overnight rain which meant water was standing on the uncovered areas of the square, the decision to abandon today’s game was not difficult.  Very frustrating as we were to field a very strong side and it had all the makings of a memorable contest.

The bright side of the early match cancellation was an opportunity for Wilcot’s stalwarts to spend quality time with their partners and families. We travel to Bradford on Avon next Saturday, with a free Saturday on August 5th, unless someone has an idea for a friendly fixture that day. Potterne are our next visitors on August 12th and we look forward to a good tea and a match played in a good spirit.
